Our Production Strategy

In order for our project to be closer to true decentralization, we must allow every voice to be heard. This means every single idea presented in the pitching stage will be voted on. Once we're running at full speed, entries will open quarterly, giving anyone who has a finished script a chance to submit for consideration. At the end of the quarter, entries will close and $PLAYTIME holders will have to cast their vote on every single idea presented. The winners (this will vary depending on available funding/budget requirements per film) will then become part of the Movie Metaverse canon and join the DeFilms Originals lineup. Independent filmmakers will also have access to rooms where they can connect with others and pool resources to have their films produced that way as opposed to through community vote. They will then have a chance to submit their finished product to be added to the DeFilms Originals lineup, qualifying them for an online premiere event and a larger residual payment pool.

Any production, regardless of community support, will be eligible to create NFT collections under the DeFilms umbrella (NFT collections will still be categorized as either DeFilms Originals collections or community collections) and have the option to collaborate with our partner projects if selected by them. Films can also be submitted independently of the Movie Metaverse canon. Although these projects will primarily be restricted to community collaboration until additional funding is raised to finance all kinds of productions.

Creatives of all kinds will be able to join projects at all stages of development and help complete films that may have been stuck in a particular stage for months, or even years, due to lack of resources someone else currently has available. Once a project is completed, it will be promoted in the distribution channel of our discord group, where multiple distribution options will be presented. DeFilms will always allow filmmakers full control of distribution rights, with the exception of an initial three month online premiere being required for all DeFilms Originals productions.

Pitch Room

This is the beginning stage for all ideas. Think of it like planting the seed and nurturing it until it begins to take root. Anyone with a finished script will be able to submit for consideration. All $PLAYTIME holders will get to vote on these scripts for free as long as they hold any amount of our token. At the end of the pitching stage, winners will receive funding and any available resources to have their film made.

Pre-production

This is the planning phase for the film where we secure the resources needed for the production and begin to plan. $PLAYTIME holders will be able to pledge their tokens to finance community projects, and vote on which community projects join the official Movie Metaverse canon, qualifying for a film grant to finance the production. Independent filmmakers can also pool resources to get a film made (equipment, people, software, etc.) DeFilms will also host regular giveaways and filmmaker focused MME to help provide resources for filmmakers.

Production

This is where the movie gets made. Once all the requirements for production are met,

We move on to the filming stage. This includes the necessary budget for post-production.

Post-production

Editing, scoring, VFX, sound mixing, etc. Will take place at this stage. This channel will also work as a bulletin board for people to list their projects stuck in the post-production stage, and help each other raise the necessary resources to finish their films. As DeFilms grows, we will dedicate resources to this purpose as well.

Distribution

New DeFilms Originals will be announced here, along with community projects. DeFilms will never restrict distribution platforms on community projects. Instead, we will encourage our community to share different distribution platforms on this channel in order for our filmmakers to find the option that best suits them. DeFilms Originals will require a three month online premiere on our platform, but will then be released for the filmmakers to find distribution wherever they choose.
